Lip filler on Staten Island, and in Queens and the Bronx

Two friends in warm coats laughing over coffee on a park bench in autumn

Living outside Manhattan does not mean you have to cross the river for lip filler. It does mean the choice can be thinner and harder to compare, so a little checking goes a long way. This page covers Staten Island first, then Queens and the Bronx.

Lip Fillers NYC is a free referral service, not a clinic or med spa, with no office in any borough. When you send the form, an independent, licensed provider in New York City contacts you. You choose whether to go ahead.

Lip filler on Staten Island

Staten Island is Richmond County. It is linked to Manhattan by the Staten Island Ferry and to Brooklyn by the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge, so people here often weigh a provider close to home against one across the water. Requests come from across the island:

  • The North Shore: St. George, near the ferry terminal
  • Mid-Island: New Dorp, Grant City and Todt Hill
  • The South Shore: Great Kills and Tottenville

Whichever side of the island you live on, think about the second visit as much as the first. A follow-up about two weeks after treatment is common, and if something feels wrong in the first days you need to reach your provider quickly. A provider you can get back to easily is worth more than one who is slightly closer to work.

What changes outside Manhattan, and what does not

The rules are the same in every borough. Injecting filler is a medical procedure in New York, and estheticians and cosmetologists may not inject. A registered nurse may give treatment that a licensed physician or other licensed prescriber has prescribed. What can differ is how many places there are to compare, so the questions below matter even more.

Queens

Queens is Queens County, the largest borough by area, and requests come from all over it. Neighborhoods people ask from include:

  • Western Queens: Long Island City and Astoria
  • Central Queens: Forest Hills, Rego Park and Jackson Heights
  • Northeast Queens: Flushing and Bayside
  • Southeast Queens: Jamaica

Queens is a borough of many languages. If you would feel more comfortable discussing risks and the consent form in a language other than English, ask the provider whether they can do the consultation in it. You should understand every word of what you are agreeing to.

The Bronx

The Bronx is Bronx County, the one borough on the mainland. Requests come from Riverdale in the northwest, Pelham Bay and Throgs Neck in the east, and Fordham, Parkchester and Mott Haven. Many Bronx residents compare a provider nearby with one a train ride away. The same checks apply to both.

How to check a provider in any borough

  1. Ask for the full name of the person who will inject you.
  2. Look them up on the NYSED Office of the Professions online verification search, which covers physicians, physician assistants, registered nurses and nurse practitioners.
  3. If they are a dermatologist, check the American Board of Dermatology’s Derm Search; if a plastic surgeon, the American Board of Plastic Surgery’s lookup.
  4. If a nurse injects, ask which physician prescribes and oversees the treatment.

The FDA’s advice is to choose a licensed health care provider with dermatology or plastic surgery experience who is trained in filler injection. Our Brooklyn guide compares med spas, dermatology offices and plastic surgery practices in more detail.

What the appointment looks like

A lip filler appointment usually takes 30 minutes to 2 hours. Numbing is usually a cream that takes 15 to 30 minutes to work, and many lip products also contain lidocaine. After the injections, the provider may watch you for up to 15 minutes. Swelling and bruising are common for some days, and your provider will explain what to expect and how to look after your lips.

When to get help at once

The FDA says to get care immediately for unusual pain, vision changes, white or blue skin near the injection, or signs of a stroke. In an emergency, call 911. This is why being able to reach your provider quickly matters wherever you live.

Questions to ask before you book

  1. Which FDA-approved lip product will you use, and can I see the sealed syringe?
  2. How much do you plan to use, and what is the written price?
  3. Is there a consultation fee, and is the follow-up included?
  4. How do I reach you after hours if something feels wrong?
  5. Do you keep hyaluronidase on hand?

Before you go, read about the products in our Juvederm, Restylane and RHA guide, the filler families in our dermal filler guide, and, if you like the flat, tall look, the Russian lip technique.

Questions people ask

Can I get lip filler on Staten Island?

Yes. Send a request with your neighborhood and an independent, licensed provider in New York City can contact you and say how far you would travel.

Is it worth taking the ferry to Manhattan for lip filler?

Only you can weigh that. The rules are the same in every borough, so compare licenses, products and follow-up care, not the address.

Do you cover Queens and the Bronx?

Yes. Requests from every borough are passed to an independent, licensed provider in New York City.

Who may inject lip filler in Queens or the Bronx?

The same as anywhere in New York: a licensed health professional. Estheticians and cosmetologists may not inject.

How soon is the follow-up visit?

A follow-up about two weeks after treatment is common. Ask your provider when theirs is and whether it costs extra.

Will someone from Lip Fillers NYC treat me?

No. Lip Fillers NYC is a referral service and does not treat anyone. The provider who contacts you is independent and responsible for their own care.
